Amanda Elsner is our wonderful Doctor of Occupational Therapy! Amanda grew up in the East Texas area and then went on to attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where she received her B.S. in Kinesiology. This must have been fate because she also happened to meet her husband, Russell.
After graduation, she moved to Houston to pursue her Doctor of Occupational Therapy at Texas Woman’s University in the Texas Medical Center. Amanda served on the Texas Occupational Therapy Association’s Gulf Coast committee and on the Social Media committee from 2023-2025. She has worked in pediatrics since graduation and takes a trauma informed and child led approach to therapy sessions. In 2024, she completed certification as a Certified Neuro Specialist through The Neuro Specialist Institute, later achieving an advanced certification in pediatrics as well. She is currently studying to sit for her Board Certification in pediatrics as she pursues her passions to be a lifelong learner and to improve herself for her patients’ benefit.
Amanda believes every child is capable of amazing and wonderful things when given the right tools and support. In her sessions, Amanda often focuses on what the child can do, rather than what they can’t and strives to understand the whole child as a person in their own context
Amanda and Russell were married in 2023 and currently have three dogs and one cat. Amanda is also the guardian of her niece and nephew. In her spare time, she enjoys bowling with her husband in leagues, reading memoirs, playing with her dogs and having friends over for board games (her favorite game is Betrayal at the House on the Hill). Her favorite color is orange, and she loves all things whimsical!
