Helping Children with Hearing Loss and Communication Difficulties Express Themselves
DISH Development Center (DDC) is designed specifically for children with hearing loss and language delays and is focused on appropriate instruction with spoken language at its core.
Making a Difference in Your Child’s Life
Since language is crucial to the development of children from birth to 5 years old, early intervention strategies are key. Our teachers are trained in listening and spoken language principles, tactile and kinesthetic centers, and milestone development in children with hearing loss and communication difficulties.
To determine the proper treatment for your child, our teachers work directly with:
- Pediatric Speech Therapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Audiologists
Preparing Children for a Lifetime of Learning
Our Listening & Spoken Language Program Coordinator works with each child to determine specific education needs, and helps our teachers implement strategies for support in the classroom and at home.
Here at the DDC, our mission and passion are embracing each child’s uniqueness and guiding them, one sound at a time, into a world where every voice is heard, including their own.
– Francesca Soda
We also provide each child with hearing loss Auditory Verbal Therapy (AVT), and work directly with families to teach:
- Appropriate communication skills at home
- Advocacy development in parents
- Educational counseling once the child is ready for a school-age program
Our development center utilizes this collaborative approach because learning happens best through repetition across multiple settings.
We Are Currently Accepting Applications for DISH Development Center
Enrollment in the DDC starts with a tour and parent interview.
From here, our staff will go over history, parental concerns, and brief evaluations done by our team of experts. Our enrollment committee will then review the information and make an enrollment recommendation for your child.
