Meet the Owner

Dr. Joey Davies,
B.S., M.A., Ed.D.

Dr. Joey Davies is the founder of the Davies Institute for Speech & Hearing and a lifelong advocate for children and families navigating hearing loss, speech delays, and communication differences.

She fell in love with Deaf Education after taking ASL (American Sign Language) in high school. That early interest grew into a calling to work with children, support families, and improve access to effective care. From there, she received her:

  • Bachelors of Science in Habilitation of the Deaf and Communication Sciences and Disorders from Texas Christian University
  • Master’s in Deaf Education from Columbia University in New York City
  • Doctorate in Professional Leadership, specializing in Curriculum and Instruction, from University of Houston.

Dr. Davies is the happy owner of two dogs, Mayson & Harley, and two cats, Maia & Romeo. When she is not working, you will find her with her husband, Adam, her son, Rhett, and her daughter, Parker, relaxing and enjoying the outdoors!

Why She Opened the Davies Institute for Speech & Hearing

Before opening her own practice, Dr. Davies worked across deaf education, speech clinics, and audiology settings. Through that experience, she began to notice consistent gaps in care. Children were often pulled out of school for appointments, families had to juggle providers across town, and students fell behind academically despite receiving services.

She realized that many programs for students with hearing needs do not often help children reach their full potential. Those observations led her to create the Davies Institute in 2022, where families could receive high-quality pediatric therapy, audiology, and early education services under one roof.

Dr. Davies believes progress happens when care is comprehensive, communication is consistent, and parents are treated as active partners in their child’s development. Today, she leads the Davies Institute with a focus on long-term outcomes for children and their families.
